Hi All,

I am looking to lower the ground level at the front of our house a bit, to combat potential rising damp. I would need to remove concrete/paving stones around the gas meter, which has a pipe that runs into the concrete before going under the house.

Am I fine doing this myself (carefully), or do I need a professional for working around the gas pipe?

Thanks

Is it the supply pipe or outlet side? If you don’t know post a photo.

Hi Chris,

I am not sure. It is possible it is an old, disused pipe. There are two going into the bottom, and one that runs out of the top, which leads to the first floor (where the boiler is). It is a bit hard to get pic as there is currently a guttering pipe in the way, but hopfully you can see below. It is the one on the right that runs into the concrete.

We have recently had floor boards up insde, and there is a yellow pipe that runs out into the meter box, so that would be the live gas one, right?

Thanks

Can’t really tell from that photo, could be that the lower right hand one is the incoming, the other one on the left could feed something else in the house, and the top one is the boiler only. Can you open the meter cupboard and take some photos on there?
