In our old house we lived in a very hard water area and use to have terrible limescale on sink taps etc I bought an electric version of the descaler and was amazed how brilliantly it worked, took a couple of months but we had limescale free taps and even the loo stopped getting limescale forming it worked for over ten years perfecly till we moved and i'm sure it's still going strong.

doesn't it have something to do with magnetising the iron particles in the water, making then stick together and make larger particles, which then in turn trap the limescale particles.. makes it easier for the filters to stop them.. ?>
