Hi all....
The floorboards on t he landing are not very even and have gaps.
You can feel these through the current carpet and i'm having a new carpet fitted soon.
I've heard of using hardboard to cover the floorboards, but i'm worried about hitting any pipes with nails (if there are any).
Any advise on fitting it would be very helpful.

Thank You
Andy

PS Also what thickness hardboard should be used? thanks :)

If you use hardboard it will follow the shape of the floorboards. Ply would be better.
Just make sure you use 20mm ring nails. As floorboards are mostly 18mm thick you won't go through into any pipes
