i'm building a man cave (big shed) it will be 6.3m x 4.3m with a flat roof. My question is what size timbers will need for a 4.3m span at 600mm centres. Also what fall should I have on it. Thanks in advance.

Used to have a simple rule for bearer sizing ::

divide span in feet by 2 then add 2"

So for a 10 foot span you get 10'/2=5"+"2=7"

But why a flat roof, even a shallow peaked roof will look much better and be a lot stronger

I would prefer to do a pitched roof, still might, just working out pricing for both. Priced pitched roof using clay tiles or shingles, but didnt think about doing a shallow pitch with felt. Any reason why I cant do this?
