Hi,

I have just fitted two new humidistats in the bathrooms at home and neither of them appear to work properly.

If I adjust them to be permanently on then they start the fan, but I cannot get them to work as a humidistat (ie if I have them set to 40% humidity they never fire up the fan)

I could not work out from the instructions supplied what the purpose of the switched live was and have not used it. Could this be the problem.?

Thanks

The switched live operates the fan when the light comes on.
The fan will run on for the period set my the timer control.

You say the fan runs. Is that when the humidity setting is at 20%?
You should be able to adjust the humidity adjuster so it stops. At what point does it stop?

Humidity today in sun-drenched Oxfordshire is 89% so your fan should be firing up. HAve you made it really steamy? A boiling kettle is a good test..

Thanks,

I have had the shower running so that the condensation runs down the tiles.

I have also tried the kettle trick until my arm ached but no luck.

I am wondering if I have wired them incorrectly, but it look really quite simple.

they can often appear to not work correctly at first, however its just a case of understanding which way to adjust the pot and setting it up.

Turn it to the max both ways to understand.

If there is a timer, set is to zero just incase its causing confusion

Thanks for the replies.

I had the settings turned down to just above the always on position (pointing at 40% and they did not work)

I have just adjusted them both to 70% and they work if I hold the kettle under them but not if I have the shower on steamy hot.

I will keep fiddling and let you know how I get on

The lowest setting on the Humidistats is 40% and below that is the always on position. If I switch to the always on then they work but anything above that (even less than 40) then they do not power up the fan.

The kettle seemed to work when I held it under the stat and then adjusted the RH setting, but not if I just hold it there.

I have tried leaving the shower on for 15 minutes and there is even condensation on the casing but still no fan.

I think I am going to have to return them both.

It maybe worth turning the power off and on after adjustment.

I thought the setting needed to be 70% from memory ?
