Manual valve in airing cupboard is turned to Radiators only.
But the water is always very hot, HW tank gets hot.

Any ideas? The manual 3-way valve seems to be working OK.
Options for 3-way valve are HW, CH+HW, CH
It doesn't seem to be a motorised valve, and the spindle works pretty smoothly.

Basic gravity fed system, no room stats. CH controller is a basic on/off model. No options for choosing HW only etc.

Do you have a pump? What boiler is it?

Let the system cool down to cold, turn to heating only, switch on, feel which pipe coming out of manual valve get hot, either hot water or heating.

Suspect the valve inside is breaking up.

Might be best to upgrade to motorised valve, cylinder stat and room stat then you get 100% control.

On CH only setting, both HW and CH pipes are hot.

I don't really want to upgrade to system with room stats etc. I prefer the simple manual system (when it works).

I'm surprised that a manual valve would fail.

You can replace like for like but not very good saving on gas.

Daniel.
