Hi all.
Has anyone come across a Marmitex?
I have a four way switch that runs four different lights in me front room, the switches are round and are like on a spring. none of the light are working,

So i took the switch off and found a Marmitex within the back box,

Live and neutral going in and five different colours coming out going into each switch, neither of the switches are getting any voltage yet they is 238v in the in comer of the Marmitex.

Would that have gone or is that connected to something else being somewere else?
How does it work, never come across one before.

Thanks to any one that can help

Any chance of a pic?

Are you sure the name is Marmitex, and not Marmitek?

no, it didn't, bt I think you mean one of these

Makes your X-10 system invisible
Transforms your existing switch into a X-10 controllable transmitter
Transmits On and Off commands.
Signals used

The TMA4 MicroModule is an extremely small Marmitek X10 Transmitter for 4 addresses and the commands ON and OFF. The TMA4 connects up to four maintained switches by wire leads and transmits up to four sequential X-10 powerline carrier ON/OFF addresses. MicroModules use two-way X-10 communication. Marmitek MicroModules are designed to fit in the rear of European junction boxes, behind any installed switch or outlet.

that's a really annoying website, I suppose designed by someone inexperienced who wanted to show how clever he was rather than building something simple for the users to look at.

LOL yer i agree,

It is the one i have, does it go to any think?
If the lights are not switching yet the live in is still getting 238v does it mean this has gone?

cheers.

the unit shown is only a transmitter, it does not have a built in appliance unit - these may be buried elsewhere - maybe above the ceiling roses?

You can get the user manual from Simply Automate and Let's Automate web sites. It's pretty simple to wire, and if it won't respond to the physical switches it's probably blown.

This unit can control any X-10 receiver, for examples see:
