mastic or silicon sealant removal

Could anybody give some advice about removing mastic or sealant (I am not sue which it is) from sealing strip between worktop and tiled wall in the kitchen.
A product is available from B&Q etc, but it is expensive.

Once its cured i think all you can do is use a blade, the cleaners are only to dissolve excess silicone when applied not once set :cry:
