Megaflow problems

Hi,
I'm new here and I hope some of you can help. I bought my house a few years ago and was told I had the Rolls Royce of heating systems, with a Megaflow and an Ideal Mexico boiler.

In the last year or two I have been having big problems with my boiler, with it having to be re-lit almost every day. I do 'put the air pressure back up on the little red tank think which is situated over my megaflow, possibly once a month.

In the summer I turn the heating off at the timer box thing, but I have 3 rads that stay on constantly in the bathrooms.

I live in a 3 bed semi which has a loft extension, and my average gas bill is £2500 per year.( My electric bill s around £1000. I think this is ridiculously high ??

I have had several plumbers out over the past 18 months and I just seem to keep getting charged and the problem is still here.

Can anybody help with suggestions as I'm a single Mum with 3 kids and cannot keep paying out if this problem isnt getting fixed?

Is your house well insulated?
It's not unusual for your bathroom rad to come on whilst the water is being heated the idea is that you have nice warm towels after you have used your hot water.

It may be the bathroom radiators are piped into the piping to
heat the hot water tank.

Firstly you need to ensure the timer is only firing the boiler in the times
you set for it.

You should set it to run 1 hr in the morning and 1 hr in the evening.
Maybe slightly more. The rest of the day the hot water setting should be off.
And therefore the radiators will be off.
You are using the hot water in the tank for the rest of the day.
If you don't need the heat in the bathrooms from the radiators turn off
the radiators.

Ensure that the hot water tank thermostat is actually turning the boiler off when it reaches temperature and that the boiler is running away trying to heat a hot tank that never gets hot.
