Microwave...just keeps on turning :)

I've got an LG microwave that's about 9 years old and has just developed a strange fault...when the microwaving time is done it beeps as always but the light then stays on and the turntable keeps turning. I'm pretty sure it's no longer microwaving at this point.

Now, I know it's oldish but I really like it. Does anyone know if the above symptoms could be caused by something that could be easily fixed by opening it up and taking a look or is it likely a write-off?

new microwaves does not cost that much, the more it has the more it can and will go wrong
