Hi,

My bathroom has a shower over the bath, which until recently was working okay. Since I moved in a couple of months ago, I've only used the shower, not the bath. Last week I had a plumber in to fix a leak. Now water will only come out of the bath taps, not the shower, and I can't figure out how to switch it back!

The bath has a round dial which lifts and lowers the plug; there are no other switches etc. that I can see, but the dial has a hole in it, and I'm wondering if there is supposed to be a lever there? It sounds ridiculous, but I can't remember whether there was something there in the past.

I'm a bit embarrassed to get the plumber back, in case I'm doing something really stupid (likely!), but I was wondering if anyone recognised the fitting?

Many thanks,

Kate

Diverter control to switch between bath filler and shower should be on the tap somewhere, does that chunky part at the base of the shower hose move?

Have you tried pulling up or pushing down where the shower hose is connected to the tap?

Thank you both for the quick replies! I feel like a total idiot now

Yes, the round thing is the culprit. I had tried unscrewing, but foolishly hadn't tried lifting it up.

Thank you so, so much - I would have been absolutely mortified if I'd called the plumber back for this!

It's not obvious if you've never used it, dont worry. The hole in the bath overflow likely contains a grub screw, loosening that allows you to remove the 'dial' to access the workings of the pop up waste.
