i have put the first coat of thinned matt emulsion on and now wondered what i should use to fill all the imperfections before sanding down.

stuff i have lying around is- finishing plaster, caulk and filler (think its wood filler).

or is there something better i can buy.

thanks so much for helping with all my questions. gav

Ordinary foller...the powder type, not ready mixed.

Use the caulk for the edges for that nice even smooth finish.

Apply above the skirtings, down the side of the doorframes, and even along the ceiling/wall line, it will mask some imperfections along those points.

It says you can normally paint in 1 hour, but there is chance of it crazing/cracking, the best bet is to do it the night before, then do your top coats the next day.
