I have a corrosion problem with one of the pipes on my 2L Mondeo power steering system. The pipe leaked out all the steering fluid. We managed to unscrew it and get the pipe out but the Ford dealer says that it is part of the steering rack and that the pipe is not available separately.

The pipe looks as though it is made of steel and it is a complex shape. It is larger than standard brake pipe and very rigid so it would not be easy to make. Does anyone know where I would be able to get a replacement?

maybe the ford dealer wasnt playing ball, some parts counter guys are worse than useless,if its removable then im sure it should be available

Well yes, but he showed me his screen and it showed the steering rack with indicators on all the component parts. The relevant part did not have a number.

Not all Ford dealers are "bad". My Dad went to our local Ford dealer when he needed a new number plate light for his Escort van, the guy behind the counter said they could get one, but they are expensive and suggested a visit to a breakers yard. Now that's customer service

looks like a visit to the scrap yard or a local friendly hydraulic pipe firm that may be able to make you up another one

If you cant get hold of one, find someone who can TIG weld and get it patched up.
Done a few of them on transits in the past and they weld up ok
