monkey puzzle

hi there got this monkey puzzle tree,had it about 6 years about 18 inches in height.
i have noted over the last couple of months the whole tree slowly becoming burnt especially the bottom branches.
(looks like somebody has set a blow torch on it)

it could have Phytopthora which would show these symptoms and is very prevalant at the moment, is the tree 18 inches high after six years (in which case there isn,t much hope for it now) or was it 18'' when you got it. if the tree is in water logged ground it is more likely to be phytopthora.

what you could try ;

aerate the ground, if waterlogged

water the ground if too dry

feed the soil (pelleted chicken is good) if you havn't already
