More sponging parasites fear exposure

This is the same as tax avoidance schemes being puposely set up.

There has been talk for years about doing away with the road fund licence (excise duty) and increasing the price of petrol but this would penalise the better off and companies while favouring the poorer driver - so it doesn't get done.

You disagree ?

We pay duty on fuel already and road tax based on emissions. You arguing for something different?

Not that I disagree, more that I don't know what you mean.

What I'm saying is that if I buy a Golf R and drive 1500 miles a year, I don't polute as much as my neighbour with exactly the same car, he drives 45,000 miles a year. At the moment we pay the same road tax, if it went on fuel we would pay our fair share.

Say the tax is £300 and average mileage is 12,000/year, they could add on 0.025p per mile. Then I would pay £37.50 and he would pay £1125, the government would be quids in.

He might decide to drive less and use the bus, Train or get a more economical car, and I could keep mine.
