Mortar mix

Hi,

I am new to the forum and I would really appreciate your help.

I would like to build a load bearing cement blocks wall. What would be the correct mix of lime, cement and sand?

Depends where it is and what environment.

There is a trade off between durability, strength and workability.

Most structural masonry above DPC will be Grade (iii), whilst below DPC will be Grade (ii)

Grade (iii) would be 1 part cement, 1 part lime and 5.5 part sand
Grade (ii) would be 1 part cement, 0.5 part lime and 4.5 parts sand
