Hi All

Took my peugoet 306 R Reg 1998 with 57K on the clock for it annual MOT and it failed on brake efficiency with a reading of 49%. Everything else is fine. The Garage removed the drum and prised back the dust cap on driver side wheel cylinder, at this point a droplet of fluid came out. They said wheel cylinders are leaking yet everything inside the drum was bone dry? Is this the real problem or could the problem lie else where? The quoted me £125 + VAT for the repair.

It sounds like it's not leaking bad enough to be the reason for the brake inefficiency. But if they replaced it it would improve because they'd have to bleed the brakes etc. You'll get a droplet of fluid out of lots of wheel cylinders without it having an adverse effect on the brakes.
IMHO a good clean up and free off should do it.

have a look at the load sensing valve if it's on the rears
