will a car pass an mot with steering problems?

I would hope not. Why would you want to drive a vehicle with dodgy steering.

Tell us more about the vehicle, make, model etc and the "steering problems"

I bought the car on sunday Renalt megane scenic 1.9 dci x-plate.
The seller seemed geniune(he new my uncle) he never let me drive it because it had no tax and i was not insurred to drive it.
It was not untill i took it for a wee spin yesterday that i noticed the steering was very tight estecially at low speed(very hard to park). speedo aint working correcty either.
Now it came with 11 month mot,no tax, the tax was out at beginning of january.
He even drove me home in it(probly so i did not notice the steering or speedo problem.

Think it could be a dodgy MOT ?

Have you checked the power steering fluid level?

I can’t tell from that, am not familiar with Megane Scenic so have no idea, have you looked in the manual ! Another clue will be the presence of a pipe connecting the bottom of the reservoir to the steering rack.

have you started simple and checked the tyre pressures?

I am getting a hissing sound at full lock ?

That is perfectly normal, it should occur at either lock, (excess pressure relief)
As some one previously asked, are the tyre pressures corrrect?
if so and the steering still feels strange, then the steering geometery has possibly been knocked out of kilter.

been told it is the 6mm copper power steering hose.
