Mould inside doorframe: killing my curtains, annoying my missus

Mould has grown on the inside of our patio doorframe. The back of the curtains are now f***ed - stained and a bit grimy.

I'm assuming I can clean up the black mould and then paint over any discolouration with mould-resistant paint, as a quick short-term fix?

I know it'll come back though, so I'm unsure if the construction or material used for the doors is substandard, or if the airflow in the property would cause this no matter if it was replaced.

Any advice gratefully received. Pics attached for info

The mould is caused by

a) High humidity condensing on cold surfaces.
b) Lack of air circulation - especially if there are curtains drawn across in front of the door/window.

A good clean with mould remover will kill off the surface mould and repainting with anti-mould paint will help.

The mould will return if the conditions persist - mould spores are present in the air and will always grow if the conditions exist.

Agree with all the above comments,we had mould in the shower across a lintel and a good extractor fan and dilute copper sulphate painted on the sanded emulsion seems to have done the job although you will need a few coats of emulsion to cover the blue up,i had a couple of fungal nails on my feet and the quack was useless then found c/s and painted that on for a week and voila,it killed it,look it up as it is used on sheep/horses and stuff for fungal infections!

A bit like Bordeaux mixture (copper sulphate and slaked lime) which is traditional cure for fungal infection of vines

Ha,a keen gardener i guess, which reminds me i must string some copper wire around the shed ridge to get rid of the lichen,i beleive the salts leach out when it gets wet and kills it
