Hi

I have read on the Expamet web site that the pre-formed
"Movement Bead should NOT be used over Structural Movement Joints" ???

This does not seem to make sense or am I missing something ?

Cheers

That is my preferred way for definite,,,, back to back s/s render stop beads with a gap for movement, filled with an "appropriate coloured" flexible mastic, to compliment the colour of the finished roughcast/render.

Roughcaster.

I agree, although the intergal movement joints look better.

I suppose the reason is in case the two sections of wall move apart more than the gap between the bead.

An integral movement bead will suffer as each bead is physically attached to the ruber insert, whereas the two separate beads are free to move independently, with only the mastic in between pulling away from one bead.

Inside, the movement bead looks much better, and if a problem occurs I suppose a bit of making good will sort it - but outside, who want to be patching render?

Hi

Many thanks.

I've been looking at a lot of new houses where the integral movement bead has been used on them all externally in the roughcast ?

The older houses have the stop beads filled with mastic.

Cheers
