Hi all, new to this site so hello to everyone reading this post.

As the post suggests I am building myself a shed / workshop. It's going to be 5m x 2.4 m and 2.4 at it tallest, I am starting the base with concrete footings so that it hopefull won't start to move or sink, but unsure what size to do. It's going to have 2 rows of concrete blocks as a base then all timber on top.

I was thinking spade width and 300mm deep, what does any one have to say on the idea?

Thanks in advance

Dave

Hi Dave,

I think you need to go a bit wider and deeper.
Say 400mm wide, and certainly deeper than the topsoil and into some firm subsoil.

Sorry i forgot to mention that i have already had a 4 ton slew in to remove tree stumps and clear the area and has already skimmed at least a foot of soil off the garden, which has left me very stoney hard soil from the previous farm yard that it used to be.
