Took a board up to pull a new cable in, and look what I found
Don't know who got in first, the plumber or the sparky.
Still, the hole is still "a bit close" to the notch that would originally have had the slip conduit in it, even before the butch...err plumber hacked out twice as much notch as needed for the pipes.

I reckon the electrics were done first, because some of the original conduit would be in the way of where the pipes are now. The original narrow slot (where the wood is darker) would have been for the conduit.

And nice to see trades have been consistent over the decades in just piling all the crap under the floor. Original socket is Ashley that would probably have been made just across town.

Well you know heating pipes need a bit of expansion room, don't want 'em creaking!

What a pile of poo.

I would be really concerned about the rough end of those conduits chafing the cable. As they are very close to the floorboards, it may only be a matter of time before there's a big bang.

Kopex used to sell these:

Don't know if they still do, or if anybody else does.
