we've just drained the entire water system to fix a leaking radiator we have fixed the leak, turned back on the water, our heater is now cutting out after about 10 seconds, the pumps working fine, the pipes are hot for about 10 minutes then start to cool down, the heater make a noise and cuts of the gas supply.


can you please help.

Air lock or lack of water coming from the header tank.

Bleed the pump (remove central screw)

Bleed the rads, If water doesn't come out, you have a blocked feed. :(
 
i have took out the central screw out of the pump and no water is coming through. my bottom radiators is flowing water freely but the radiators upstairs is full of air need help





please help

1st check that the small header tank in the loft is full of water.Open a drain cock and see if that tank starts to refill.If it doesn't then your cold feed is blocked.Close the drain cock. Follow the usually 15mm pipe from the bottom of the header tank to where it connects into the system(Possibly in airing cupboard) and around that area is where you need to check for a blockage.If you have a servicable gate valve on that pipe then it makes the job a lot easier.
