Need help knowing which combi boiler to go for

Hello ,
My combi boiler is being a nightmare ~ shuts down every so often, and takes forever to restart. Throughout the summer I had to keep the heating on really low all the time just to keep the hot water !
I wondered if anyone could let me know which combi boiler is worth replacing it with that won't break the bank !

Does the boiler always happily fire up when the heating is switched on?


If you let us know which boiler you have; it may be something easily repairable.

Yes the boiler works fine as long as the heating is on ~ will get back to you on the make of it in a bit when I have a look at the make.

the boiler is an icon t, it is about 8 years old now and I don't know how long boilers last etc being a mere girly, so any help would be great !

There's another topic about that boiler with the same fault which you might want to read. It doesn't sound too popular but should be fixable.

Thanks for that ~ I went and had a look. Just in case it is passed being repaired, do you know which would be a good combi boiler to go for ~ I'm a bit worried that I'm going to be stuck with no heating or hot water in this cold weather .

Vaillant seem well though of but not cheap. A large proportion of the cost will be the installation and getting that right is just as important.
