Look forward to the pics- don't know if you've done a drystone wall before, but when you start it seems daunting, as long as there's no distractions and you can focus clearly it's amazing how quickly you get the required mindset. You'll pick up stones that won't be suitable, put them back but as you progress you'll remember the stones and all their attributes- sizes, angles etc and you won't be fishing about blindly....it's like your brain takes it all in as you move them about in the pile....
Just take your time to start with. I set out the base of mine with a trammel, but as it went up it was all by eye
Maybe it's just me that thinks this way....
But then again was a stonemason for 20 yrs...drystone walls are SO much more pleasing on the eye than any mortar based walls that's for sure.
