Need help with this wall please

From what youve said, good god no  I have admit your subsequent post has me confused a little but if it passed the "selotape test", just give it a good going over with 120 grit & try again. Try not to damage the plaster surface too much as it’s not meant to be sanded & that in itself will give a "suede brushed the wrong way" appearance which will need extra paint coats to cover.

As I said, I’m not a pro decorator but here are some tips that might be of use; I thin all emulsion around 5% but maybe more depending on it’s actual consistency out of the tin. I rarely use rollers & never on finish coats as I don’t like the finish they give or the mess they seem to make; I always use a 5” brush as I think it gives a better finish &, for me, it doesn’t take much more time.

That i'm afraid is rather common with Rich Matt, in all honesty the only ways to address this is either by removal or sanding, there really is i'm afraid no magic cure.

Sorry I didn’t really understand the OP’s post for the selotape test which seemed odd to me :? . TheDec; FMI can you explain what’s in the pic, has the paint peeled off or just been marked? What is it I'm looking at?

Sorry for the confusion.
No paint came off when I did the test. Confused myself :)

If you look toward the centre of the pic you will notice two vertical lines, this I believe to be the area where the op did his tape test, if in the same area he was to repeat this a few more times he would in time expose the skim, this is the very nature of the product when not applied correctly.

If the op tried to overpaint this system it would be liable to come off in sheets, it to honest is a very difficult product to apply and achieve a good finish with. Bearing that in mind the correct prep is essential before re-painting is undertaken.

Yes I saw them clearly; but does that imply it’s still a soft, non homogeneous finish? Does it become homogeneous after a much longer drying time, longer than 2 months? Sounds like weird paint to me & I’ve not experienced that before on a tape test; although it might seem like I’m TTP, I’m honestly not mate.

Richard I never thought for one minute that you were, if I had I would have made mention of it. In answer to your question no the system is not soft yet it is as you say weird, to my thinking it is better both left in the tin on on the shelf.
