I cut out a section of the chipboard flooring to see why it was moving so much when weight was applied, and I found it was never properly supported. The floor is a floating chipboard floor on top of 50mm polystyrene, but where we get to the door threshold the polystyrene stops and we see the black dpm that's on top of some block work. The height of this is slightly lower than the level of the polystyrene, so the chipboard here isn't supported well. The height difference is very uneven so a sheet of wood won't work to raise it up. I'm looking for ideas on what to put on it to bring it level.
Another question I have is, can I seal off the cavity without bridging it somehow? There's quite a draft coming from it. I thought of expanding foam but I imagine that would cause bridging problems with damp.
