Neff dishwasher problem

I have a Neff dishwasher - S5453X1GB - which has a fault.

When switched on the washer takes on water OK but when it gets to the point when it would normally continue into the wash cycle, after a pause, it takes on more water. Then the drain pump kicks in briefly and it takes more water, then drains briefly and so on indefinitely.
When reset it drains fully with no water left in the machine.

Can anyone help ?
