Hi,

Had a Vaillant 831 installed at the weekend and it seems to be giving off a strange odour when its running.

At first I thought it might be the new copper pipes/flux but I'm becoming more convinced its something else. Can't decide if its gas, it doesn't smell exactly like the gas from the cooker but that could be because the odour has dissipated.

I assume that a new boiler shouldn't give off any odour at all?

They do give off a very slight odour from the paint and parts for a few days which someone with a very sensitive nose might notice.

Was the installer properly gas registered?

If not then dont use it until it has been checked!

If so then ask them about it.

Tony
