New Combi Boiler Choice

Thank you all very much for your comments and advice.

Alongside the quality of the install, my main takeaway from this is that water quality is crucial (and also something I, as a homeowner, can actually do something about). This is supported by my own experience living with the Vaillant - it was clear to me a couple of years after we moved in (when it first went wrong) that the system water had not been taken care of (or had any attention paid to it during services) - the Magnaclean was thick with sludge and the water was black. I cleaned, emptied and refilled the water after that and have done so twice in the following six years.

I'd be quite happy to clean, empty and refill the system every other year or even every year if that would be beneficial. And, with a new boiler likely coming with a long warranty that depends on good water quality, my final question is therefore - would there be any harm in using a chemical cleaner, emptying and refilling the system annually, or can doing so only be a good thing?

Thank you all again.

All you need to do is test the water using a suitable testing kit and act as necessary, as and when required, by the results of the test.

No, definitely don't do this, it will introduce fresh oxygen into an otherwise sealed system and increase corrosion
