Hi,

recently bought some oak veneer doors from a well known retailer... read many people seem to treat with danish oil or the like, but according to the label this is totaly against the advice (and guarantee) from the manufactuer -
Looking for as natural finish as possible - anyone with experience of similiar? - probably go the varnish route but then best type water/solvent based etc

Thanks!

You can't oil veneer'd doors because it reacts badly with the glues used to apply the veneer.

Oils deeply penetrate with multiple coats applied, stains penetrate to just below the surface and varnish pretty mush just sits on top.

A water based stain is probably the best thing to apply but check with the manufacturer first.
