hello would like to ask what might appear to be a really stupid question but its not stupid to me...... If you have damp coming thru your walls and the render on your house is cracked and missing in some areas will a new coat of render with a nice sponge and float finish stop the wet/damp coming in? :?

New render will stop damp and wet coming in,, but,,,, when you have removed the old render,, give the brickwork a good check over before you re-render. The render might have cracked etc, because of faults/cracks in the brickwork. Done correctly,, two coat cement render onto a sound brick/block wall, will be totally waterproof/weatherproof.
