In common with most gardeners and farmers, I reckon, I've been using this for decades to kill perennial weeds like dandelions.

I know there's been a cancer scare etc, but really - don't bathe in it or inhale it.

Anyway, if you buy Roundup now, although the bottle and label are virtually identical, it no longer contains an ingredient which will kill the roots of perennials, so you'll wonder why the weeds keep coming back...

That's the introductory woffle - does anybody know of another weedkiller which actually works? Or is it still possible to buy glyphosate elsewhere?

Thanks

There are many people selling it on ebay eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/406693690819

I don't know what the regs are at the moment. I occasionally use methyl chloride paint strippers, that was the active ingredient in the old nitromors formulation (the new Nitromors, I paid £15 for a tiny can... and then binned it). It became a restricted product because it, too, might be a carcinogen. In theory, you need to buy 5L and suggest that you are trade. I know a supplier on ebay who will sell smaller quantities. Not dissimilar to old skool creosote- you can still buy it but the minimum quantity is 20L and you are not allowed to apply it where a stupid kid might decide to lick the fence.

It'll probably work if you wait a bit longer. I lost faith in the stuff I was using, then after a lot longer than claimed on the bottle, the weeds died.

Good point.

Although I am horticulturally challenged I believe that you need the whole weed sticking out so that the weed killer has a bigger "vector" to work on.

Insert inappropriate joke from Dorothy Parker- "you can lead a horticulture, but you can't make her think"
