No hot water only heating.

I have an Ideal Elan 2 boiler which has just stopped heating the hot water, the central heating side is working fine. I have checked the F&E tank and it appears fine, I opened the 2 motorised valves but still the boiler wont start up to heat the water, I then switched on the heating also and it heated the hot water as well as the radiators. The cylinder thermostat seems to working ok, can anyone suggest what the problem could be.

It seems to be a problem with the HW valve not operating its micro switch.

But needs checking with test meter.

Ok thanks for the reply, I think that is a bit beyond me. If I leave the valve open and use it like that to heat the water when the heating is on am I doing any damage to anything?

You can latch the HW valve open and use it with CH demand with no problem.
