no hot water

I have an optima 701 combi boiler ,when my dial is set to just hot water the hot water taps run cold but if I turn the dial to heating and hot water the hot water taps are fine. once I turn the dial back to hot water the hot water will be ok for a while but then it will just go back running cold.Any advice please?
