I posted a while ago re our noisy new warm front boiler, the noise was due to air in the pipes to & from the hot water cylinder which could not be resolved as it kept reoccuring even tho fitted with auto air valves, heating was completely silent however
The warmfront inspector finally came & noted the noise + loose fitted gas pipe across loft floor with no yellow gas tapes
The same inspector from the company that fitted the system came back out again & this time he noticed there was a gate valve on the 15mm return from the cylinder, the flow is 22mm.
The valve was half closed & once fully opened the noise was cured,he reckoned a gate valve is only required on 22mm return if fitted ?

Although rarely done, its necessary to have a valve on the cylinder heating coil so that it can be balanced against the heating circuit.

If part of that pipework is in 15 mm then the resistance already creates a restriction which aids balance.

Ideally the cylinder ( if new ) needs 22 mm pipework with a valve to enable it to be balanced exactly.
