Noisy shower pump

Does anyone have any experience of reducing the noise from a shower pump? I am planning on building an 18mm MDF box lined with soundproofing foam to house it.

If anyone has done anything like this before, I would appreciate any pointers..

if it's on the floor try a rubber mat under it

My pump has a rubber mat thing underneath it which comes with the pump and has rubber fins. I have also put this on a 1/4 paving slab which sits in a cupboard on the floorboards. (Had this kicking round the garden for ages. Cleaned it up with a pressure washer first). There is now very little noise.
