Sorry about this old chestnut. I installed Reglo valves on several rads. They chatter like mad when the rads get to the preset temperature. The valves are supposed to be bi-directional. It would be a big job to replace them all with a different make[/b]

Thanks. The pump was on its middle setting so I turned it to its lowest speed. It solved the problem but now the system takes a long time to heat up. I think I will turn it back up and see if reducing the lockshield valve openings has any effect. I imagine that will work only if the TRVs are downstream of the lockshield valves

Not necessarily, they still affect the flow rate through an open TRV, irrespective of where they are
