Honours in general ceased to have any real meaning quite some time ago.

Footballers, celebrities and, of course, anyone who donates lots of dosh to their favourite political party. And now if you happen to be hairdresser to the PM.

I think I might have said this before but, these days, the only honours that have any real meaning are military ones, especially the VC and the GC.
I think I might be persuaded to accept the Order of the Garter or the Order of the Thistle, but nothing lower!
