Oak Veneer Doors

When I installed some oak veneer trifold doors a couple of years ago I was advised to protect them with Danish oil. Despite a number of coats each year the oil is failing to protect the door and I now have areas where the wood is exposed.
What is my best course of action and product would anyone recommend to use which would give me the same colour as the Danish oil?

You will need to check with the manufactures, some veneers will not accept a stain/varnish system.
