have a 08 plate Diesel (2.0) VRS. 85,000 miles, got two warning lights come up on dust board. one, glow plugs flashing, the other partical filter. According to Skoda the Turbo controller is faulty and want to charge £1700 for a new one. Iam starting to question there diagnoses. Turn the engine on No faults, turbo working, hit 3000 revs turbo cuts out, partical warning comes on and goes into limp mode. Kill the engine and restart fault disappares.
If your driving along at 70mph with limp mode on, about every 20min the car will pull as if the turbo comes in, for about 1 second and then drops out. any ideas.

i assume as with all modern cars this has to be coded to the vehicle?

i had a silmilar problem on my 06 transporter, no boost then all of a sudden it would come back. Had to replace the egr valve at a cost of £180.
Get someone else to read the fault codes and post them up, chances are someone will then tell you what the problem is

iirc egr valves can be cleaned,
also if 1 is fitted try disconnecting the maf.if it runs better that could be your problem?
also consider flashing glowplugs as a brake switch needing to be replaced,as this is a vag car you could try reading the fault codes yourself if you purchase the correct lead and download vag-com from there website, this is a free version and not the full blown version so will only do so much.

do you do a lot of short journeys?if so then a bloody good run might burn off the crud on the particle filter?

Yes I agree, give it a good hard trashing up through the gears and out on the motorway. A half hour drive should do the trick. If you get the temperature of the filter up it will self clean. But you may need to reset your fault codes.

are you saying you have 3 lights on the dash = dpf light (diesel particulate filter)
engine man light and glow plug light ?

just thought ..............your car is still under the 3 years roadside assist,
call them out and ask only for a dedicated tech. he will have the vas machine and will be able to advise :)

I had the same problem on my 56 plate. Took it to a friend who specialises in vag cars and he confirmed it was the dpf that was the problem. We took off the dpf and managed to clean it out. This solved the problem for about 4 months then dpf, glow plug and coil light back on dash. Skoda quoted me £2500 to change dpf so I had car remapped. That was a year and half ago and havn't had a problem since. I was advices to remove the filters (smash out) from the dpf but never did and haven't had any problems since.

Hope this helps and saves a few pennies from the legalised burglars skoda etc.
