Hi - I have an odd issue. I removed an old storage heater that was working fine, and wired in a smaller one that has been in my shed a while.

There is nothing happening, so changed the thermo/cut out and still nothing. Checking the circuit at the wall, there is no power, but my boiler is on the same MCB and is on and working.

It's a short run from the CU to the wall outlet, nothing in the way and nothing showing damage - what might cause this?

TIA

Storage heaters normally are only powered at night.

Are you sure the boiler is on the same circuit?

Hi - yes, as it's labelled as 'heating' and was used because the original two storage heaters were on that circuit. No other MCBs are off either.

Also each storage heater is normally on its own separate circuit.

Perhaps a picture of all the electric meters and consumer units might help to explain.

It would be very unusual, as well as pointless, to have a storage heater unless it was supplied by an off-peak circuit. I would check where it is fed from again if I were you. Off-peak use only on at certain times of day, usually the early hours of the morning. Check if it comes on between 1am and 6am.

I have just realised that it is also unusual to have boiler - as in gas - with storage heaters.

Are you perhaps referring to immersion heaters which have both an off-peak and a 24 hour supply and is controlled by a timer for off-peak and 'boost' switch for other times?

The house is a bit of a mis-match of extensions, and the heating is delivered via an LPG boiler to a 10mm (or 8mm) setup. The extension along one side doesn't have radiators and as such two rooms had storage heaters fitted. One is now my office, and the SH was too big, so I removed it and replaced it with one that was in the d/s bathroom (replaced by an electric towel rail). Off peak isolator etc. is all on and working, so I'll have to investigate further.
