Hello DIY community
I could use some ideas on how to install an electric motor to rotate my office chair.
recently I bought this chair: https://www.amazon.co.uk/GTPLAYER-Computer-Ergonomic-Adjustable-Warranty/dp/B07GRQ99F3
It has a 90° adjustable backrest and a footrest, it's really relaxing to lay completely flat for a short contemplative-pause, but even more fun would be to have an electric rotation
But it does not seem trivial to install it, here is a foto of its bottom:
Installing the motor on the base plate(where the actual seat is mounted) would be easy, however, the base plate does not always have the same angle to the center pillar due to its rocking mechanism.
Mounting it below the rocking mechanism is difficult since there are no holes to mount anything.
Putting the whole mechanism on the bottom base would be quite ugly.
Also transferring the power is tricky, would be a friction wheel the best option?
the height adjustment happens at the same point where the rotating parts meet, the metal pipe moves inside the black metal cylinder(above at this foto), so a fixed connection with gears would disable any height adjustments.
Would be nice to hear your opinions on this, maybe there is already a similar project out there.
