I've been repainting a room and have applied a coat of white emulsion to all walls. For some reason a couple of area's with old gloss on keep showing through very yellow however many times i touch them up. What can i use to prevent this.. and why does the same thing not happen with the door that i also painted.. something about older glosses?

Are you painting straight over gloss with water based emulsion?

If you are then I wouldnt worry to much about colour stains bleeding through..it wont be on there that long!

For a quick fix...paint over the areas where the stain is coming through with some oil based undercoat..leave for a couple of days then repaint with the emulsion.
