Outdoor plaster board?

I have a new building, concrete block construction, which will be finished off in smooth render. For the back wall, which is out of sight, is there any alternative to conventional render, ie can you get sheets of plasterboard, which would then just need a coat of paint to protect the building? i am looking to minimise costs.

Or can anyone suggest some type of cladding?

If you wanted to minimise costs, the wall would have been built in brick. Now you're stuck with painting and fixings cracks for years to come. You're probably after some kind of commercial cladding board.

Cement board could be just what you are looking for. Bit of a burger to cut (dusty) but extremely weather resistant and affordable
