Hi there ... after a couple of successful EPDM projects, I have started on a felt dormer roof that has cracked and leaking ... one full 8x4 18mm ply board is rotten and needs to be replaced. The felt over the rotten board came up easily but the rest of the felt is coming off in tiny pieces. I've tried using a spade and 50mm wood chisel but still no luck ... any advice would be welcome !

I need to get a wriggle on before it rains so if I can't get the felt up easily, I'm tempted to replace the rotten board with 18mm OSB and then overboard the whole roof, with felt intact, with 10mm OSB. I'm hoping this will give me a good base for the EPDM ... again your thoughts would be welcome

Cheers

The felt will come off easier when the bitumen is brittle ie on a colder morning. A decent spade is the preferred tool.

That should be OK. Deal with any inadequate falls at the same time with the top sheets if necessary

Don't forget to replace any rotting joists before you finish
and upgrade the insulation to current regulations.
