Paint for exposed stair treads?

Two questions:

What would you recommend as a durable paint for white painted wooden stair treads? Currently painted in a white, non-gloss (possibly satin?) white finish, but where feet tread, it's wearing through. We like the white steps, but I can see this being a recurring job without the right paint!

Second question is similar, but for painted stone stairs. These have a nearly gloss finish which seems more durable, but could do with a refresh.

You will always wear out any paint that you put on the stair treds and the need to refresh goes with it.
As a basic floorboard paint, Farrow & Ball do a couple of nice colours so you could look in their selection, or get a Dulux mix.
These are all simple paint brush options.
As an alternative, Ray Munn Ltd on the Fulham road would no doubt be able to supply the Swedish white floor paint, 'Alcro Trabets'
Sand off, then apply with a cloth building up the depth of white that you want, when you are happy with the effect, apply at least 3 coats of 'Parquet 1' Satin to finish. Allow 3 days to harden properly, but it is touch dry in about 2 hours or sooner if its a warm day.

On the stone stairs, stick to the garage floor type paints, limited colour choice but ok. Do spend a bit of time checking the old paint is clean, dry, and keyed over on prep.
