Painting brass effect door handles

Does anyone know what to use? I want to paint them black but not sure metal paint will adhere

Apply a coat of Zinsser Bullseye 123 as a primer before painting them, yet two coats of a Trade quality Alkyd gloss would be more than capable on it's own.
