painting exterior upvc

can any one tell me how to paint exterior upvc and how to prepare upvc for painting :?:

Why would you want to? Isn't that what they tell us you don't have to do? You can get a 'reviver' but I hate PVC anyway. Gimme wood frames any day.
 
Wash it down thoroughly using one of those green scourer things...lightly rub it down with fine abrasive paper..wet and dry will be good..320 grade then give it two coats of oil based gloss

No undercoat...undercoat is too brittle to cope with the expansion and contraction of the plastic
 
surely thers a primer you have to put on pvc first as i can see gloss pelling off if put on straight away :confused:

I've been a Painter and Decorator in Glasgow for over 20 years and I've never heard of anyone painting UPVC. Sounds like you'll be waisting your time. Probably best to replace with wood if you can.

There are quite a few specialist paints out there for UPVC Dulux brought one out a few years ago

But ive always used oil based gloss..never had a problem,..it works fine on ordinary plastic pipes and gutters...theres no reason why it wont on UPVC
