I've left the difficult part till last. I want to paint the wooden board that runs along the top of the house wall just under the roof, (the bit that the guttering is attached to, is it the fascia board?). We have a small conservatory underneath, about 3.5m wide, and I need to get to area above it.

Is a scaffold platform the only way? Well I think it would need two platforms either side and something I can stand on spanned across them.

Is there an easy and relatively cheap DIY solution to get to this 3.5m length of wood? It seems that it's going to cause quite a bit trouble to get to it for a very short length of time, ie quick sanding down, wash, undercoat and gloss!

Any ideas and tips gratefully received.

Happy to say I found a better way than scaffolding. I can take out two of the polycarbonate roof panels and get the ladder up from inside and through the space made.

I'll leave this here in case anyone else looks for the solution, it wasn't obvious to me at first!
